Project Update from "Princess Yola and the Program Team" (Nice name for a musical group - copyrighted by GCF):
The school block has been roofed. Thanks to you all for your support. (HIPIC to post related pictures).
They have also begun plastering one of the classrooms using proceeds from the sale of stones (you remember that was what caught Paddy's attention).
The school will require 200 bags of cement for the plastering and flooring of the three classrooms
and the office/store. The school has been able to procure 40 bags.
A bag of cement (as of today) at Suhum (also in Accra) is about GHC 10.30.
The 160 bags of cement needed will thus cost about GHC 1,648.
The Program Team has asked the Headmistress to put their request in writing to conform with proper administrative procedures. The
Headmistress should include the total cost, their contribution, contributions from other sources (such as assembly if available) and
the specific request they need from us.
The Program Team is highly impressed with what they have done with our initial contribution of
US$ 500. It will be very fulfilling to support Omenanko to complete this school project.

To help in the second phase of the project - plastering and flooring the classrooms, we propose releasing funds in three installments of $500 each, to cover the purchase of the cement bags, transportation, labour and other incidentals.
If no one objects, we propose releasing another $500 to the School early next week.
Update:
The 50 bags of cement have been purchased.
To hedge against rising costs, we are transfering an additional $1,000 to purchase the remaining 100 bags needed for the plastering and to help pay for the artisans.
This brings our remaining balance to $961.50:
Year to date donations: $2,961.50
Less Disbursements of: 2,000.00
We will appreciate more donations.
This just came. Moments like this give life a deeper meaning. Thanks to all for making this possible.

I'm going to start gathering the pertinent details from this thread and the Donations thread. I'll compact it, fluff it, fold it and present it in a sparkling way on the Omenako School website.
This is not a threat. It's a promise.
