Some Background:

We are making a tactical decision to get into projects, which will directly impact on the knowledge and experience of the school kids. In as much as we need the construction, we also need to consider other high impact activities that will improve teaching and learning.

This is where Brekodi and her Associate come in. They will need all the support they can get from us.

In the meantime, we are in the process of signing up for Internet service for the school. The initial set-up cost will be about $250. Monthly charges will be about 40 cedis per month. Although these charges appear to be high, it is a small price to pay to see to the betterment of the kids. There may be reduced charges as service-provider competition increases in the future.

Additionally, we are also looking at getting the teachers and pupils proficient in computing to facilitate effective communication with the
school-to-school programme.

This is where our computer gurus/experts come in. We will need your input.

Thanks.

Hi Brekodi,

I just did a search on 'Georgina Fofona' on the site and couldn't find u.

Can u tell me which page to find u on, so i dont have to go thru all of the 50 or so pages?

Sorry but i'm feeling a bit lazy going thru all those pages...lol

sweetP, thats strange. A simple look up like you said you did should bring up her name or information. Just use their search box.

Thanks to each and everyone of you for casting your vote. Although we did not win this time, I'm pretty confident about the other grant I wrote. So far, students have written their first letter that should be going out but the end of next week.I will keep you posted once they are mailed. We are thinking a book drive next but not sure how to ship. There is a Ghanaian managed shipping company in Chicago(Conship).......I need help drafting a proposal requesting their help in getting the book to the children in Ghana. I understand that the owner is in Ghana. So, maybe those in Ghana can do the leg work there. We might be more effective pleading directly to him than to those here in Chicago. I will send more info about the company via PM later today. I do want to sent the first shipment of books by the end on May. Thanks again for everything. Paddy U ROCK!!!!

Last night, I managed to get into Yahoo mail and read Brekodi's update.

Major points:

1. The book drive continues.
2. Another tutor has taken interest in Omenako Project and is preparing his class pupils to partner a corresponding class at Omenako.

Thank you Brekodi.

So, we got the second grant! This grant will enable us to continue to communicate with Omenako.

We are very excited about this opportunity. Additionally, we've collected 320 book to date. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks

PS: Someone from the previous grant organization will be visiting at the end of May.... so please communicate this with Omenako to see if it's possible for my students to receive feedback prior to his visit. This will help us if we want to apply for another grant next year to keep the program going. I will see if we can add some school supplies to the shipment before we send it. I will keep you posted!!

Thanks
BKD
