Also my husband likes shitto with almost everything so if I dont have any I just mix one quickly and its done. My Mother sends me lots of it as she knows the one thing I wont do is spend hours making shitto from scratch. Thats my sisters forte.
The fufu in the box is also good.
All these things are alternatives to the real thing, helps when you lead a busy life, what with work, gyms, studies, entertainment, wine bars, parties etc.
I think its OK!! But dont mind me if you dont agree.

Oil in a pan, add your blended onion and ginger, let it sit, add your tomatoe (let the water dry out), add your spices, shrimps/fish etc.!!
Takes a couple of minutes, just leave on really low heat!!!

modern ladies dont prepare good food
all they know is blend blend blend
the earthern ware (aporto yiwa or ka) which
is used to grind stuff adds some flavour to food
that no blender can ever do.

That is a very strange statement.
But you can still insist on whoever cooks for you to use the ka and even include the bits of sand and grit residue it leaves under the food.
You are very strange!!

What you need
one cup dried shrimp or prawns (ground or pounded)
one to two cups dried hot chile pepper (e.g., red pepper flakes, or take dried whole chile peppers and roughly chop, grind, or pound them -- taking care not to turn them into powder )
four cups vegetable oil
two tablespoons salt
What you do
Combine all ingredients in large pot. Cook over high heat, stirring continuously, until ingredients are well mixed. Cover and allow to cool to room temperature. Transfer to clean, glass bottles with airtight tops. Store in a cool place (refrigerator). Can be stored several months. Serve with everything.
The basic Shitor recipe (above) can be jazzed up with the addition of: cayenne pepper, a crushed chicken bouillon cube, minced garlic, grated fresh ginger, finely chopped onion, a spoonful of tomato paste, and/or worcestershire sauce -- as you like it.
Fresh Shitor or Kpakpo Shito is made by using a small mortar and pestle (or an electric blender or food processor) to mix together a dozen red or yellow hot chile peppers (cleaned, seeds removed), a couple tomatoes, an onion, and a spoonful of salt. Allow to stand for a half hour before serving on any grilled chicken, fish, or meat.

very very old fish oil is much used oil used umpteen times to fry fish, then you get
the crumbs as sediments which enriches the taste and thickens it...
you forgot the shrimps.
